June 16, 2006 - Microsoft to End of Life Frontpage Server Extensions

Ready-to-Run Software, Inc. and Microsoft, co-developers for non-Windows FrontPage Server Extensions, have officially announced their intention to end of life Front Page Server Extensions for non-Windows servers on June 30, 2006. As many of Cerberus' clients know, Cerberus' servers that utilize cPanel® come equipped with the capability to use FrontPage Extensions.

Although all of cPanel® servers currently are Unix-based (ie: not Windows-based), Cerberus has recieved word from cPanel that they intend to continue supporting FrontPage server extensions for at least another year after the End of Life date (ie: June 30, 2007). As such, Cerberus will continue offering FrontPage extensions with our hosting services up until the point that cPanel discontinues support for it. There will be no extra charge for being able to utilize the FrontPage extensions - just like it has always been.

However, even though Cerberus will continue offering FrontPage extensions as long as cPanel continues to provide support for them, we strongly encourage web developers that utilize FrontPage to begin looking at other solutions and start porting their websites over before support for the extensions is terminated. There are many other strong webpage development software solutions available, such as the following:

In addition, there are many free open-source webpage development software solutions available that can be found by using your favorite search engine tool. We by no means endorse the use of the tools above. We code in vim.
