January 15, 2006 - Cerberus Interactive, Inc. launches new website!

For web service hosting and webpage design companies like Cerberus, their website is their primary selling tool. Poor websites for hosts with strictly online presences generally cause collapse or severe setbacks to a company. Other times, great looking websites with little functionality really prohibit current and potential customers from being able to become satisfied with these online presences.

Thus, with this in mind, the administration of Cerberus felt it necessary to once again change our look. This change was brought about due to our shifting business model from a community-based web, game and other application hosting business towards a professional web application hosting and design business.

Several different designs were envisioned, all circulating around several different pieces of artwork and design features, but none matched the full professional appearance our administration wanted to have portrayed. Finally, after many different combinations and color switches, this design was elected the best. Thus was born, Cerberus v3.0. Some of the main reasons for the choice of this design was it's ease of adaptation to several different display models (ie: the main page, the product listing page, form pages, etc.), the professional and sleek look of a 21st century web host, and the fact that it is a much easier layout to plug into Cerberus' new content management system (CMS).

On the technical side, there were many different design concerns that needed to be tackled from the start of this project. One of the most important was conforming to standards. At the time the project began, Cerberus technicians rigorously coded to HTML 4.01 standard. Every page of the new site still conforms to this standard. However, in the very near future, the site will recieve a virtual facelift and move up to the newer and fresher standard of XHTML 1.0 Strict as well as numerous cleanups and changes to the Cascading Style Sheets.

Other technical concerns were our lack of a more thorough, informative, and sophisticated order processing system. Thus, our technicians and business consultants were in constant communication to put together an effective order processing system that integrates well with the website, still conforms to standards, and charges the client's billing information on-the-fly. Several different merchant service programs were evaluated and code was hand written against all to be able to test the most effective and a decision was finally reached. The more thorough order processing application allows new and potential clients to place orders online using either PayPal or credit card and is charged immediately after accepting the terms and conditions. This allows Cerberus technicians to quickly make sure all account information is correct and deliver the hosting plan more quickly and effectively to our customers, production happier clients.
